Woods Favors Shorter Season

Tiger Woods is striving hard for a shorter golf season. You figure the golf season drags on so long, other sports such as football are already finished with half the season.

Since Tiger is for a shorter golf seasons, he announced he will be skipping the Mercedes Championships which starts off the 2006 season. He said he never has time off and needed a break. The last time he missed this tournament was in 2003. Other players who won’t be attending the tournament are Phil Mickelson, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, and Adam Scott.

I completely agree with Tiger that the golf season should be shortened. If you take a look at all the other sports seasons, none of them compare in length to the golf season. The golf season is the longest by far, yet it’s the least watched. I believe that with the season shortened and introduction of new players to golf such as Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer, the popularity in golf will increase.
