There’s No Rain Here…

Golf Course

I went online last night to schedule a tee time at Fire Ridge this morning for a three some. Austin, Justin, and I wanted to play this morning, but the weather wasn’t looking too promising. After checking the weather radar last night it looked like rain the entire day, but I’m an optimistic person and it’s extremely easy to schedule a tee time online at Fire Ridge so I set one up at 7:39 this morning. The weather was bad all night with tons of rain.

After hitting the snooze button on my alarm for half an hour I finally got up and looked outside. It was cloudy, but it really didn’t look too bad. I ran downstairs before I hopped in the shower to check the radar and it looked like there was a big storm going through just south of me. At least the weather wasn’t going to ruin my day today. I quickly got ready and went to play some golf.

Austin showed up late and Justin didn’t show up at all, but that was fine. I’d almost rather play with a two some versus a three some anyway.

With the questionable weather and the early tee time, there weren’t that many people out on the course. I started out the front nine very well with a bogie, par, par, bogie, bogie. Then I hit some doubles which don’t bother me that much. I figure as long as I can shoot doubles or less on every hole, I’m fine with that. On the front nine I carded a 46 which I’m very content with. I hit almost every fairway and my approach shots were dead straight. My putting started out well then started to go downhill from there.

The back nine was a different story. I started out with four doubles and didn’t hit any pars throughout the entire nine. I had some decent shots, but just couldn’t make anything happen. I carded a 52 after all was said and done. Shooting a 98 isn’t bad at all in my book. I definitely had some quality shots and I had tons of fun playing today. I just wish I could of ended as well as I started out. I might of even been able to break 90 then. Austin ended up hitting a 101. He started out rough, but had a quality finish.

Austin carried around a set of the Callaway X-18s in his bag and I’ve become quite fond of them today. I’ve taken a few shots at a range before with an X-18 6 iron, but after watching someone play an entire round with them, I want to get myself a set. I think this winter I’m going to go out and buy a new set of irons. Right now I’m still using this knock off brand I bought off Ebay two years ago when I started playing. The Callaway X-18 golf clubs are quality clubs and I think they’d suit me well.

Anyway, we ended up playing all 18 holes in less than three hours. I don’t think I’ve ever finished all 18 holes that quickly. Either way, I had a great time and want to get out a lot more before the weather turns cold and the season ends.

In other things…

Yesterday, I played with my friend Catie. We played at Mee Kwon. It’s a nice break playing golf with girls from time to time. Whenever you get out with the boys, it’s always very competitive. Who can drive the furthest, who has the best shots, etc. Playing with Catie was great. It was a nice and laid back nine holes. I ended up shooting 48. It’s kind of funny that I shot better on the front nine at Fire Ridge versus the front nine at Mee Kwon. Nonetheless, I had a great time with Catie and we’re probably going out sometime towards the middle of next week to play the back nine at Mee Kwon.
