The 10 Worst Jobs In Sports

I actually found out about this SI.com article written by Lang Whitaker from The Illogical Golf Blog. I thought it was interesting so I decided to give the article a look.

In the article, Lang goes through what in his mind are the top ten worst sport jobs to have. The list consists of things such as the boxing bucket guy, the football sideline personnel, and an NBA ball boy.

One profession, that I was quite disappointed with, that made the list was PGA tour caddy. What’s a caddy doing on the list? Lang goes on to say how bad being a caddy actually is, “…wearing a full body suit, carrying a huge sack of metal sticks, pouring dirt in holes in the ground, raking sand, wading in stagnant lakes, getting yelled at by drunk fans.” Let me begin by saying that being a caddy, especially a PGA tour caddy, shouldn’t be on the list at all. They make tons of money for giving their input to pros on how to make certain shots or what club to use. Who cares if they need to carry clubs around 18 holes or fill in divots? Every time I go out and play I ALWAYS carry my clubs. Who needs a cart anyway? Yes, I know a lot of people are lazy, but it’s good exercise. Second, how many days a week do they work? Thursday through Sunday, 18 holes each day. That really doesn’t sound like that bad of a deal especially with how much money they make. Plus they get all the publicity from being around the pros. I’m sure most of us would give anything to be able to caddy for either Tiger or Phil at least I know I would.

By the way, the picture on the side has nothing to do with this post. I just found it humorous and thought you’d enjoy it.
