Sennheiser HD555
This post isn’t golf related, but it IS for all you audiophiles out there.
A little over a week ago, I ordered a pair of Sennheiser HD555s. They were priced at $125 and were well worth the money.
I’m really into high quality sound. Right now I own a 6.1 surround sound system that pushes out 750 watts hooked up to my computer sound card. With my 24″ widescreen dell flat panel monitor, it’s a good combination to either watch DVDs or play computer games. After purchasing my surround sound system over two years ago, I thought sound couldn’t get much better, especially upgrading from a cheap pair of 2.1 speakers. The surround sound system made DVDs and computer games alike sound so much more intense.
Don’t get me wrong, my 6.1 surround sound system is amazing and I wouldn’t trade it for anything — except a 7.1
— but the detail of the sound you hear from a good set of headphones is incomparable.
After getting my HD555s in the mail, I threw in one of my favorite cds and started listening to it. These were songs I had been listening to for years, and couldn’t believe how much other “noise” was going on in the background. There was so much more music to the songs. All that extra stuff just gets drowned out when listening to the songs through a set of speakers. You’d be surprised how much of it doesn’t even make it to your ears.
Don’t even get me started on DVDs. Listening to all the sound effects in King Kong, the Peter Jackson version, is just unbelievable. I can’t even imaging how much time is spent throwing every little sound detail into movies like that.
Not only is the sound quality amazing on the Sennheiser HD555s, but they’re extremely comfortable. As I put them on, that was the first thing that popped into my mind. It’s like cushioning everywhere. You can wear the HD555s for hours and your ears still don’t hurt after you take them off.
The Sennheiser HD555s were definitely worth the money and now I’m a true believer in headphones. However, you won’t catch me dead walking around with these things hooked up to my iPod :).

Why wouldn’t you be caught dead using them with your iPod? They’re very easy to drive and have a reputation for being one of the best-sounding headphones (in this particular price range) that don’t require an amp.
What are you using for your iPod now? The original ear buds? If so, you’re missing out. Go ahead…plug ‘em in!
