Learn How To Play Better Golf. Warm Up To Save Strokes
Listen up. You are a golfing athlete! You must prepare your body to perform! The only way is to do a golf warm up routine that gets your golf swing muscles loose and ready to go.
I am not referring to hitting balls. I am talking about dynamic warm up exercises specific to golf. Do movements that are similar to your golf swing but that are movement-oriented, not holding type stretches.
One area that is critical to warm up is your hamstrings and lower back, since this area is severely put under stress during the golf swing. I do a toe touch with a club to loosen up this area.
I grab a club about shoulder width apart on the shaft. I have the club resting across my thighs in a standing position. I then slowly bend over bringing the shaft down my legs, past my knees and towards my feet.
I then slowly come back up and repeat this 15 times. By the 15th time, my back and hamstrings feel fantastic! This is a very dynamic golf warm up stretch that will prevent any undo stress on your lower back during that round!
This is just one stretch of many in Mike Pedersen’s Golf Fitness Manual!
