Kangaroos On Golf Course

Since I live in Wisconsin, I don’t see many Kangaroos in the wild. Actually, let me rephrase that, I don’t see ANY Kangaroos in the wild. The only time I ever see a Kangaroo, if I’m lucky, is when I visit the Milwaukee Public Zoo. Anyway, this story came to my attention and struck a nerve hard. Here’s an excerpt from the story:

“Since January last year, the bodies of 22 young eastern grey kangaroos have been found at the Yarrambat Park Community Golf Course, most without heads. Another four bodies have been found in nearby suburbs. The RSPCA’s inspectorate services manager, Greg Boland, said it was hard not to suspect it was the work of humans. Many had been killed in the same way and in the same place.”

What I want to know is why would anyone want to purposely go out and kill a Kangaroo and not only kill a Kangaroo, but 22 of them and rip their heads off as well? I’m no Kangaroo expert, but I don’t think they’re hostile towards humans. Obviously the picture shows them next to people playing on the golf course. I sure as hell know they don’t congregate as much as geese do around Wisconsin and I’m sure they don’t leave as much shit on the ground either. So why? Did some disgruntled golfer get pissed because a Kangaroo picked up his shanked ball and now he holds some vendetta against all Kangaroos? I just want to know the reasoning behind it. Sorry for the rant, but it just makes me sad.
