Hawthorne Hills Golf Course

Last Thursday, I played nine holes over at Hawthorne Hills by myself. It was such a nice day outside — low 70’s — and I had to play golf. I called up some of my buddies I regularly play with, but none of them were up for it. It bothered me that no one wanted to go out and enjoy the warm weather and I hate getting paired up with people who think they know everything about golf.
You all know the type of person I’m talking about. The let me tell you everything you’re doing wrong every time you swing person. That type of person doesn’t even know who you actually are yet they think they know everything about how you play golf.
I typically shoot in the mid 40’s on nine holes, which in my opinion isn’t too horrible. I do pretty well in hitting GIR on most holes, but lose it all when I pull out my putter. I typically three putt which on nine holes is 27 putts — not good. Despite my fear of being paired up with someone against my will, I decided to go out anyway.
I arrived at the course and to my surprise it was practically empty. I walked in the club house and was able to walk on right away and play the front nine by myself. I was relieved to say the least. I only shot 46 that day, which as I said earlier is average for me, but for once I was hitting my driver really well. I hit a lot of fairways and was hitting right around 210 yards. Even though my score didn’t show much of an improvement, I felt as if I was hitting much better.
Too bad the rest of this week is going to be in the 50’s and rainy. Oh well, there is much more golf to come this season.
