Funk Walks Away with $925,000
When all was said and done, Fred Funk dominated the Merrill Lynch Skins Game taking home practically all the money. He left with $925,000 while Tiger, the only other player to win money, left with $75,000. Couples and Sorenstam left with nothing.
I say good for Funk for sticking it back in all their faces. He wasn’t expected to do well yet he made a few good putts and walked away with almost all the money. During hole three, Sorenstam gave Funk a pink skirt to wear because she outdrove him. He wore it the entire hole. Tiger ended up winning that hole.
I bet that if Fred Funk hadn’t worn the skit for hole three, he would of walked away with it all. He mentioned that it was somewhat hard lining up his putt while wearing the skirt. Either way, he walked away victorious and proved that a few good putts can take you from underdog to winner.

I read where the skirt was Fred’s idea and that he brought it to the match. He was a good sport and added much to the event. I also thought Tiger was much more animated and talkative during the event. Maybe he’s mellowing out in his old age.

Tiger was much more animated, but he’s only 29. I don’t think its ‘old age’ thats mellowing out.
Sorenstam brought the skirt not Funk. This was taken stright from an article at PGA.com:
“Sorenstam pulled the skirt out of her bag and the easygoing Funk gamely pulled it on over his pants.
“It’s Funky’s idea,” said Sorenstam, who’s coming off a 10-win season on the LPGA Tour. “I thought it was a great idea. I said, ‘I’m in, I’m cool.’ It was just a matter of when. I was hoping it would be sooner rather than later. It was kind of heavy for my caddie to carry.”"
