Career in Golf Ball Diving?

I was reading through the articles in the July/August issue of $1,000,000aire Blueprints and came across a golf related article.

The article tells stories of Richard Smith, a U.S. Army retiree, scouring the bottom of murky golf course ponds and lakes in central Illinois for lost golf balls — or as the article calls them “unanswered prayers and inflated egos”. Although the title of the magazine, “$1,000,000aire Blueprints”, would lead you to believe that Richard Smith makes over $1,000,000 diving for golf balls, he unfortunately does not. His income adds up to around $50,000 annually, but for being in as he likes to call “semi-retirement”, it’s a nice chunk of change to fill the bank account.

On an average day Richard spends right around four hours in the water and retrieves 3,000 golf balls.

This isn’t the job for me, but for bringing in $140 a day for being in the water for only four hours, the job of golf ball diving doesn’t sound too shabby.
